The Virtuoso Violin - Pablo Diemecke

Pablo Diemecke is one of Canada’s finest virtuoso violinists. He appears as a soloist around the world, and has completed 20 years of service as concertmaster of the Victoria Symphony. Critics describe Mr. Diemecke as “a tremendously skilled musician” (Adrian Chamberlain, The Times Colonist), able to create “moments of heart rending beauty” (Laurence E. MacDonald, The Flint Journal) and take command of "difficult runs, trills and double stops… without a single drop of perspiration.“ (James Reel, The Arizona Daily Star) Pablo demonstrated “virtuosity and such a high level of playing that his audience … burst into applause before the work ended.” (Felizardo Andrade and Victor Luna, El Imparcial, Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico)

Mr. Diemecke showed remarkable talent at an early age. He made his first public appearance at age 10, and his childhood quartet toured the US and Mexico several times. At age 17 he made his first solo appearance with an orchestra, playing the Saint-Saëns Violin Concerto #3. He studied with Henryk Szeryng and his assistant Enrique Espin Yepez in Mexico City, receiving honours at his graduation recital.

He went on to study with Robert Gerle in Washington, D.C., and Daniel Majeske in Cleveland.

Mr. Diemecke has just returned from touring China, Japan, South Korea and Russia with a string quartet, and we are honoured to welcome him to St. Michael's for a solo performance.
