May Ling Kwok plays Chopin and Schumann 
February 28 - 2 pm

Acclaimed as "one of the most musical and sensitive Canadian pianists among her generation", May Ling Kwok has appeared as a soloist with various orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Vladivostok Symphony Orchestra, the Slovakia Radio Orchestra, and the Czech National Symphony, in addition to the Victoria Symphony Orchestra with whom she has performed for over 25 concerts.

May Ling Kwok is on the faculty of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and the School of Music of the University of Victoria from which she graduated with Distinction under the tutelage of Robin Wood.  She pursued her doctoral study with the noted Hungarian pianist Gyorgy Sebok at the Indiana University where she was awarded the Distinguished Performer's Certificate.

As an active soloist and chamber musician, she has performed and given master classes in North America, Europe, China, South East Asia and Russia.  She was the first major Canadian pianist to be invited to perform in Eastern Russia in 1997.   She is a founding member of the McPherson Trio.

Her recordings are frequently featured by CBC Radio across Canada. Her Mozart K467 was chosen for a CD release showcasing other noted Canadian classical musicians such as Andrew Davis, Maureen Forrester and Ofra Harnoy.
